Thinking of stopping smoking? Well, in the first instance allow me to say this! What I have to say could be as important as saving your life! We are strangers, that we know! However, as a stranger, if I had need to save your life from let’s say, a speeding car coming towards you, I would put mine in danger to save yours as I have at done at a point in the past! I cannot do that obviously, so let me try and do it another way!
In the attempt to stop smoking, you have a vast array of traditional methods, ranging from patches, gum, hypnotherapy, acupuncture! All of them have one intrinsic problem - they all use methods that force you to remember that you are attempting to give up at all times of the process! What if there was a way in which you could just turn it off! No craving, no panics, no fear or nervousness at letting go! What if there was a way that you could do this in a day! If this interests you, please read on!
This is - A Different Way!
Hello and welcome.
I stopped smoking three and a half years ago and have never looked back! Not only that, but I did it in one second flat! After giving it some thought and learning something unique, I abandoned the habit in the most painless and effective way!
What I learned at the same time is that you have exactly what it is that I used and can easily do the same!
One day, Friday 11th January 2008 at exactly 10.35pm, I stepped out of the door to smoke! On finishing it, I dropped the remnants of it down a drain in the road outside and never smoked again! Not one single, solitary inhalation and it was so profoundly easy! It was as if I had never smoked at all! Three and a half years later I can tell you now that I will never, ever smoke again and have had no desire to do so since stopping!
Before we continue, this claim can be substantiated medically and by way of multiple testimony! I had smoked on average twenty five to thirty cigarettes a day for the previous thirty years never in all that time ever trying to stop it! (Yes, 30 years)! I stopped in the space of a single second of time and I did it through the realisation of something quite profound! A realisation that every single person who smokes could come to realise with the same clarity of thought which I employed myself!
I did not suffer one iota of pain in the form of cravings, desire, loss of a crutch, no sense of being deprived, no fear, no shakes, no sleepless nights, no constant thoughts of not smoking! I did not suffer a single emotion that gave me any sense of panic and I did this without recourse to any aids to stopping! It was quite literally a case of engaging in a habit one minute and the next simply abandoning it without terror!
Can or could you achieve this? There is no single word or simple sentence that can articulate the inner strength, power and meaning of what I say next adequately – Yes, you can! There is no need to search for other words in order to generate any modification or alter the exact meaning of that affirmation!
Prior to that particular Friday, there is not an event in my entire life which was not accompanied by smoking! Every single event from getting out of bed in the morning followed by absolutely every other event day-in, day-out, month-in, month-out, year after year which involved or was accompanied by the habit of smoking!
A relentless, persistent, incessant habit to mark every single occupational or social event that I engaged in! Smoke breaks at work! Smoking before driving! Whilst driving! After driving! Smoking at weddings (and funerals)! Smoking before a meal! Pausing video’s, DVD’s and other programs! Slipping away from meetings with others! Smoking in the howling wind on a wet winters day! Smoking in illegal areas and places! It never stopped! Every day events that are no different from your own day to day engagements!
No difference to yourselves! I used to reach into my pocket, retrieve the packet or pouch, strike a match or lighter and repeat a process of lighting-up, drawing, inhaling and exhaling! No matter the circumstances, the act of smoking was exactly the same!
The sense of being ‘falsely’ rewarded by the intake of that smoke again, was exactly the same! Just like yourselves, I was fending off the perception of a need to satisfy a nicotine addiction – or so I thought!
Now, before anything else, allow me to say truthfully that we are talking about smoking cigarettes! I have never indulged in any form of illegal drug taking or troubled with excessive alcohol consumption! Without any great philosophical appraisal as to why – all I will say is that I have never felt a need or desire to engage in such acts – apart, that is, from smoking!
That however is not to say that I do not suffer from stress or anger! I have been in quite a few strenuous situations related to work or other domestic aspects of my life which generate an imbalance of logic – meaning anger or frustration over issues! Again, I am much like most people are in that respect and have no special qualities such as being an A-list talented Hollywood actor or budding Astrophysicist! My humble occupational status is an Information Technology Network Administrator, which I admit, can be quite stressful and frustrating at times – especially when the systems are having an off-day!
Also, the eradication of smoking as a habit from my own life, has been so ultimately effective, I have never considered talking or writing about it until now! It was something that became so ‘neutral’ and so ‘uninteresting’ that it just didn’t enter my head! It became simply something that others engaged in without need to preach or discuss! It is only by way of a prompt from a brother of mine (who does not smoke) who suggested writing about how it was that I achieved this goal that so many others chase!
So, for those who are interested and who openly or even secretly have that deep desire to stop, I have something to say to you that has been said so many times before – smoking is all-in-your-mind! Well, you might say, that doesn’t tell me a lot! No it doesn’t, for the very same reason that it didn’t the last time you heard it and that is because no one ever bothered to explain what exactly it was that was in your mind! They gave you the shell of a vehicle but didn’t give you the engine to drive it with!
However, what it is that’s in your mind which generates this horrendous desire to smoke is something that I can safely say that the vast majority of smokers will have never heard before! This is the engine that drives that vehicle and is nowhere near as complex in being able to relate to and understand it! In fact the simplicity of it could give reason for losing your otherwise temperate character by realising the simple mechanism for manipulated deception that gives rise for the need to smoke in the first instance! I am not talking specifically about tobacco advertising either although that is part of it, I am talking of something completely different!
Also, I am not talking of difficult attempts of will-power to giving up! I am not talking about using non-smoking aids or any form of traditional methods! I am talking of a method that is so powerful it becomes true to say that there is no risk of failing, even after becoming frustrated or getting angry or upset! This method simply breaks the perception and bond with all emotions that generate a desire to smoke!
It is by the very nature of the process a method that divorces one from the another! Neither is it a story of the dangers of smoking and neither does it rely on influencing your thoughts by guilt association! Far from it! It is a process of disassociation by understanding a simple truism! You have no idea at this point how close you are to becoming a true non-smoker!
